| 'Street Talk' The SDF Newsletter - Nov' 2009 |
| Hi all
This is just a quick 'extra' newsletter to try and keep you up to date with a couple of things. There will be a 'year end' Street Talk in December, but this one is to make sure that all SDF members are up to date with events and happenings. Website Geocities, who hosted our website has closed down, so we don't have a current website. This leaves me with a couple of options. 1. To take a bit of time and get a really decent one up and running, but this might take until the New Year to launch 2. Use one of these cheaper 'build a quickie' type hosts to have at least something fairly quickly. I could probably get one up and running in a week or so. Several companies such as "One.Com" & "Webeden" do host cheap and cheerful types. For the time being until we decide where we will be going with this, there are links on the old website to both the SDF & Dave Turton Face Book pages. I will stick the odd bit of up-to-date news on these pages for now, and at least members can make comments. Any ideas you may have on this will be most welcome. But rest assured we are going from strength-to-strength, we certainly have NOT closed down. --------------------------------------------------- The Charity. The charity we have started in conjunction with "Your Guardians Ltd" is coming on nicely. We have our Charity Commission Registration number, which is: 1131918. We had planned to launch this in September/October of this year, but several factors have made us re-think about the actual 'official' launch time. It now looks if we will launch the charity FULLY in the New Year. Firstly the Charity Commission suggested a name-change, as we added to our remit and now intend running our presentation programmes with even more content than before. We had originally decided to just present out "Knife Awareness" programme, but after many meetings with some very high profile and influential people, we have added even more programmes. This meant we couldn't call the charity by its original name "Knife Guardians", so we first chose "U.K. Guardians", hoping this would be the right choice. After a few meetings we have decided that UK Guardians, doesn't really fit the 'image'. So yet another new name is to be chosen. We do have a name in mind, but at the moment are awaiting confirmation with Company House, The Charity Commission, and our Bank to see if we can re-register easily. When this is complete you will all be informed. -------------------------------------------------------- Welcome Just a final extra, I would like to welcome my daughter LISA (TURTON) to the Office. She is coming in 2 days a week to get me organised, and take over a lot of the Admin… she has run large office for the NHS etc and has lots of experience. She also made 1st Dan Goshinkwai many years ago, so understands this business as well. So hopefully my past poor admin will start to get better, and if you receive anything signed LISA, its my daughter. That's all for this one, look out for the Xmas Street Talk.
