On Sunday 18th October three Students from KFMAS took part in the Boldon Junior Open.
The three students were James Hughes, Hayley Scarr, and Jack Langan. Hayley and James were taking part in their first tournament since joining KFMAS.
With 2 valiant efforts in both semi contact and light contact James showed great potential for the future and made us proud.
Hayley Scarr fought against black belts, as she was the only contestant in her division. She dropped down a height division but up in grade. In semi contact Hayley fought well and proved that she can be a fighter for the future by taking third place. Then going forward onto the light contact division she proved that the potential shown in the class and became the Boldon Junior over 5foot 5inch Light contact Champion.
As they competition went on Jack Langan also fought in the semi contact division over 5foot 5inch division for the boys and with his natural fighting skills took charge and he became the Boldon Junior Semi Contact Champion.
This was a great day out for our fighters as they went to the competition with very little experience and came back with plenty of knowledge. I would also like to mention our fighting coach Andrew Langan who stood in for me on the day who has great potential as an instructor and is proving to be a great coach for all our fighters.
Thank you to them all for putting KFMAS on the map once again. Master Hugh Crawford 6th Dan KFMAS Chief Instructor |
