09.09.19 Harassment
We have recently advised a CMAA member regarding an issue effecting them. The issue involved another Instructor passing derogatory
comments both directly and indirectly about them. These comments were via social media, text and also verbally. In addition ‘threats’ have
also been indirectly made. These were via media and also verbally.

Our advice was that if this ‘course of conduct’ persists then they should contact the Police as these are criminal offences. The messages are
an offence under the 1997 Protection from Harassment Act and the threats are, at the very minimum, an offence under the 1988 Malicious
Communications Act.

If convicted the Instructor sending the messages, passing the comments
, will then have a criminal record shown on their next DBS (which
will include the word ‘stalking’). This will not only make it very difficult to remain with any reputable martial arts body but also finding
Instructor Insurance almost impossible as most insurers won’t offer cover to those convicted of Stalking & Harassment.

06.09.18 Important Note Regarding Kids Programme Titles
We have recently advised a member club regarding an issue over using a name for their kids programme. There are many out there that are
used such as 'Little Warriors' , 'Tiny Ninjas' etc. However our member had issues with their chosen name being owned as a trade mark by
a 3rd party.
Members are reminded that, in order to avoid issues of this nature, we have own 'brand' available for you to use. That is both 'Cobra Tots'
and 'Cobra Kids'. Details of both can be seen here
